Our nursery environment and facilities enable your child to explore, develop and learn. Our Baby, Toddler and Preschool spaces are specially designed and equipped especially with them in mind. You’ll see many familiar homely items such as bookcases, tables, chairs, and sofas just much smaller than you are used to!

We consider the spaces around your child to be their third teacher, joining you as parents and us as educators in guiding them through their learning. And you’ll notice how we use our garden area as an outdoor classroom too, full of features to support their play and learning. Our Baby, Toddler and Preschool rooms are perfect for the ages of children that spend their time in them.

We keep many aspects of our nursery environments consistent as we know your child will benefit greatly from this. With core resources, enriching toys, games and creative materials, that are always at hand for your child to play with. However, it is not unusual for parts of our nurseries to become unique adventure places where your child’s imagination can run free!

All our children get the opportunity to go on local educational trips, and whether it be to the local shops or places of interest, we always risk assess our outings and ensure that ratios are adhered to.

We also invite the local businesses and the emergency services to come in and talk to the children about safety awareness and their community.

Caterpillars Environment

Our Caterpillars benefit from a large, bright, open plan day room, well equipped with the latest in sensory equipment to test their senses and encourage development.

As younger children spend a lot of time sleeping at this early age, we provide a dedicated sleep room. We constantly monitor the room temperature in the day nursery to ensure the babies are comfortable at all times.

The room focuses on the primary area’s of the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ framework and encourages learning through play. We have created various dedicated areas offering different activities.

We operate with a good ratio of staff to children, so you can be assured that your little one will get the essential attention they need at this stage in their life. Your child’s key person will take care of all your child’s personal needs whenever possible.

Butterflies Environment

When your child moves up a stage, their day is structured around their changing interests. Our nursery equipment has been carefully selected, allowing your child to discover at their individual level of understanding.

The ‘Story Corner’ where children can sit in a group and listen to stories, sand and water play area, a construction area to develop coordination and a messy play area for getting mucky.

Through our observations of children learning through play, we are able to introduce adult led activities that follow the interest of individual children, linking them to the seven areas of learning:

  • communication and language
  • physical development
  • personal social and emotional development
  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding of the world
  • expressive arts and design

The children have open access to the garden every day (free flow) from their room and complete a lot of their daily activities outside through choice. The garden also reflects the areas of learning and allows problem-solving on a grander scale.

Aquarium

The Preschool and Toddler rooms share a fantastic feature – a fresh water tropical aquarium. This has been purpose-built and is situated within the wall between the two rooms. The aquarium is an instant magnet for children; they can observe and explore aquatic life. Not only is the aquarium very calming, but it creates a number of learning opportunities. It links closely with Understanding the World and Communication and Language (EYFS specific areas of learning and development).

Community Playthings

Our Nursery equipment and furniture are sourced from Community Playthings. They are known within the industry as leaders in high quality, wooden play equipment. They specialise in customising nursery settings, designing each space to provide a stimulating learning environment for children. The entire range of products is created with children at the heart of each design.

“We design and manufacture furniture and play equipment in the UK for primary schools and early years settings. Together with visionary educators, we have been creating beautiful learning environments for over 50 years. The way that children play influences our designs. Each item is designed to support open-ended play, making sure a child’s imagination is never limited by what they play with. The environment children play in has a great effect on them. Calm, protected areas allow children to concentrate on their play. Children who have ample opportunities for play go on to become eager learners. Our furniture is modular and adaptable, enabling the environment to be changed and developed.”

Outdoor Play Area

Children love to play outside where they can be imaginative and enjoy the sunlight and fresh air. This is not only important for staying healthy but is also a unique opportunity for their learning and development. Here at Monkey Puzzle Aylesbury, we have an outstanding custom-made outdoor play area with a range of activities and equipment to stimulate your child’s physical development and learning. Children are encouraged to be active in all weather conditions and have the opportunity to free flow into the garden. Newly refurbished, the outside play spaces offer a range of exciting equipment and areas for exploring and play, including climbing areas, tunnels, mud kitchen and periscopes and telephone tubes. Alongside all of these incredible areas, we also have a separate, quieter baby garden to allow them their own space to explore.

Our garden is a safe and secure environment for your child to explore and grow. It has been remodelled to offer a fun, stimulating environment which allows learning to continue outside. It is equipped with soft wet-pour rubber flooring, a fantastic climbing frame with slides, and a mini road track where children can ride on bicycles and learn about road safety. As well as a variety of toys promoting physical activity, there is a natural play corner, sandpit, and a mud kitchen together with funnels and tubing enabling imaginative water play. In addition, we have a wonderful numbered giant caterpillar where children can learn counting and colours. Picnics and tea parties or reading can all be facilitated on our grassed, shaded area. The garden is spacious and we have a dedicated space, especially for our delicate babies. As well as being fully enclosed, the garden also has CCTV which is linked to the manager’s office for total security.
